Newcastle University’s Institute for Social Renewal explores ways in which a research intensive university can connect with society in order to make a difference to people’s lives – locally, nationally and internationally.

For the second consecutive year, Perro were asked to design and produce the Social Renewal Annual Review document.

The Annual Review focuses on the institutes ‘Thriving in Turbulent Times’ theme. Highlight articles include ‘Involving Young People in Research’, ‘Poverty Proofing the School Day’ and ‘The Illustrated Soldier’.

Research Projects, Students, Local and Global News are also featured. A new section to communicate the institutes 10 ‘themes in action’ has also been included.

The design style builds on the grid system of last years document. The overall look is still light, colourful and fresh. The ‘magazine style feel’ is intended to make the document friendly, easy to read and accessible. A colour coding system is used throughout to distinguish the different sections from within the document.

As with last years report, paper from responsible sources was used to ensure minimum environmental impact.
